Most of the character was rigged using the Easy Game Rig script, but the most challenging parts had to be done manually—IK for the legs and IK for the jetpack.
The IK for the legs was a difficult task because it’s an animal leg with a shortened second bone, and on top of that, it’s robotic. The movement in some joints had to be restricted and rotate only on a single axis, which required an in-depth study of rigging.
The IK for the jetpack was also not easy to implement due to the large number of bones, each of which had to rotate on its own axis.
To maintain volume during bends, I used corrective joints in some areas. Additionally, I added deformation joints to simulate muscle movement and extra joints to prevent armor pieces from penetrating the body. All of this was set up using an RBF solver with the Pose Wrangler script.
This rig was a great challenge for me, and I learned a lot in the process!
